Howard Brothers Joinery are recruiting for a Design Manager to join our proliferate in house Design Department.

We design, manufacture and install exquisite bespoke joinery, bound for some of the world’s most exclusive residential addresses; a host of the UK’s most ancient and historic buildings; as well as the Capital’s leading corporate landmark developments.

The role of the Design Manager will be predominantly based at our factory in East Sussex, with a view to provide working drawings and additional supplementary information, to facilitate the design, manufacture and installation of our bespoke joinery and associated products.

The role will require you to work from quotations; architectural drawings/specification; design meetings with Contractors and Clients; site surveys and other requisite information; to produce drawings that align to budget, are accurate and provide practical solutions for manufacture.

Most of our works are based within the Home Counties and Central London, though we undertake work further afield when required.

 

The role requires you to:

  • Review Howard Bros Joinery (HB) quotations and endeavour to maximise the benefit to the Company when producing working drawings.

  • Manage our in-house team of CAD technicians to facilitate drawings for approval and construction.

  • Review HBJ Project Design Brief, including reference to specifications and drawings.

  • Attend site to undertake site surveys, including setting out to grids and datums.

  • Attend site to provide HB coordination with project professional teams, including Clients, Architects, Project Managers and Cost Consultants.

  • Produce minutes from professional team meetings for internal HBJ distribution.

  • Co-ordinate all details and interfaces with other trade contractors.

  • Research all necessary design devolvement to produce working drawings that maximise the benefits of our internal fabrication processes and produce a high-quality installation workflow.

 

You will be:

  • Proficient in the use of one of at least one of the following: AutoCad / iX / Inventor / SolidWorks

  • Capable to work individually, as well as part of a wider team, facilitating the delivery of project drawings.

  • Able to detail both traditional and modern types of joinery.

  • Able to deliver information in an accurate and timely manner, in line with programme requirements.

  • Able to follow internal procedures and complete records required to manage the project professionally and efficiently in line with Company standards.

  • Aware of the CDM regulations in respect of design, to ensure consideration is given to the design of products from a Health and Safety perspective.

  • Keen to drive the project design process onwards, reporting immediately when this is not possible.

  • Expected to undertake overtime, as and when required, to achieve project requirements.
