Baird, London
A sculptural statement in the heart of the city
Baird, 15 Finsbury Circus
Behind the impressive stone façade of 15 Finsbury Circus House lies the BREEAM “Excellent” rated London headquarters of Baird. Set over two floors, Howard Brothers completed extensive works in joinery, metal and stone, bringing technical precision and design sensitivity to every detail.
The new offices feature a standout reception area, defined by a striking interlinking staircase. Geometric timber boxes form part of the balustrade, creating a bold architectural screen that balances form and function. This sculptural centrepiece connects the two floors both physically and visually, setting the tone for the high-quality finishes found throughout the space.
Working closely with the design and construction teams, Howard Brothers delivered a space that not only reflects Baird’s identity but also meets the highest standards of sustainability, craftsmanship, and performance.

“Working on the Baird project with BW and Gensler was a great pleasure. In particular, developing the design for the unusual timber and metal balustrading behind the reception desk, which was a welcome challenge. Seeing the final piece installed was fantastic – it really came to life with the inclusion of the moss and plant wall backdrop.”

Summary
Our design team truly excelled on this standout project, particularly with the feature geometrical box staircase.
The brilliance of the design lies in its subtle ingenuity: the boxes themselves aren’t relied upon to prevent falling from height — that safety comes from the discreet aluminium uprights, which almost always go unnoticed. This allows the non-repeating pattern of the boxes themselves to take centre stage and with their discreet, ‘invisible’ fixings, the staircase remains a captivating focal point from every angle.
